Polar Bear Plunger 2011

Hello folks,

I haven't checked up on the blog in a long time. I figured I would post this here in case anyone checks in semi regularly. I have an event on facebook but I know some people don't use facebook or check it rarely so I'll send out an invite here too. Email me if you're interested.

Who's ready to take the plunge?

For those who don't know what a polar bear plunge is, according to Wikipedia:

"A polar bear plunge is an event held during the winter where participants enter a body of water despite the low temperature." Simple enough...

I'm getting a group of brave souls together who want to share this experience. Right now the plan is to take a dip at Coney Island Beach on the morning of January 8th 2011.

Anyone is free to join in or just come to watch, so invite your friends. We can work out more details as the date gets closer but it may be easiest to meet up in NYC and take the Subway to Coney Island. I know the F & Q Trains run over there but I"m open to suggestions :)

Springfield.

Store Update!

Ok guys, i saw this the other day but forgot to put it up. Our old store is now offically open as

I'm guessing this will only be for a month but it was interesting to see the store changed on the inside. Though all our floor stains are still there lol. Guess it wasn't worth cleaning/changing the tiles.

so okay, Mr. Mark Figueroa sold 700 Nooks + 700 Covers + $10k in Gift Cards in one transaction. i didn't want to just relay this information without proof, so i snagged a photo of the B&N Inside Article @ work:

if you haven't guessed, that was a bad Monopoly reference [har har]. but yes, i have been chosen and i shall attend. i weighed my options:

getting paid to sit for 7 hours + letting my mind wander and write > working to get paid + train fare to go to the City Group store in manhattan.

it's once a week for 4 weeks starting sept. 23 and another 4 weeks sometime in the spring. here's to hoping i'm a good enough student...

Super Awesome Joanne Visit!

So, I'm in the cafe making drinks for a growing line while my co-worker is on her break. I had just finished making a few fraps, a cappuccino, and snatching a blueberry muffin from the bake case to give to a customer when I look up to see Joanne & Mike next in line. I had the biggest smile ever and flailed my arms waving like a doofus.

I took my break soon after and had a chance to sit down with them for a bit. The visit made my night! I know you're all jealous but tooooooo bad :)

In other news, my last day at B&N is July 29th. Peace out B&N, hopefully forever.

The main theme seems to be it's great but really complex. Definitely a pay attention and think movie.

Brothers reunited?

So, what's up people? I've been keeping busy with B&N + Photography related work. Interesting turn of events on the B&N front though. Turns out Matthew will be joining me in the Edgewater cafe. Oh, forgot to mention. I've moved from the book floor to the cafe which I think was the best choice. They have hours, are willing to work with my availability & the book floor was a drag. Nuff said.

Today I took a little bike ride which was nice. I've been itching to get back on the road and this hit the spot. I'm satisfied for now.
